I stopped at the north turnaround aid station, where a volunteer I recognized from the JFK 50 Mile filled up my water flask. I smiled. “Hey!” He grabbed my empty flask, “How ya feeling?” “Good.” He handed back the flask in record time, and I stuffed it in my vest as I ran on. I looked up. The trees glowed green. The People Who Carry You

I pinned on my bib number and carried my drop bags to the designated areas, mentally running through the contents as I walked. Headlamp. Yes. Dry socks. Yes. Did I have everything? I hoped so.
